In-Depth Workshop: "Managing
Disruptive Behavior in the Classroom"
Educators rank
classroom disruption as one of the most troublesome student behaviors they
deal with on a regular basis. If unchecked disruptive behavior can quickly
erode a classroom environment and seriously limit the teaching-learning
process. In this workshop participants will receive information and training
on understanding and analyzing classroom disruption. Common forms of
disruptive behavior will be directly addressed including off-task behavior,
non-compliance, disrespect, escalated behavior and threats. Practical
strategies will be described for managing and defusing each of these
behaviors.

In-Depth Workshop:
RTI: The Base of the Pyramid and Beyond
RTI the newest buzz word, is a
multi-tiered approach to providing services and interventions to students
who struggle with learning at increasing levels of intensity based on
progress monitoring and data based decision making. This session will
describe the importance of the base of the pyramid as well as the must have
components that are integral to the successful implementation of RTI. Find
out how this process along with curriculum based measurement can promote
student achievement to the benefit of both students and teachers.

In-Depth Workshop:
Getting the Most Out of Tier II and Tier III Instruction
This presentation will cover
two areas critical to teaching students with emotional and behavioral
disorders: Management of instructional situations and using fluency
instruction to improve student outcomes. Participants will learn how to
implement general instructional management procedures and the
Teacher-Student Game. The Game is a user-friendly competition-based behavior
management strategy between the teacher and students that is used in
instructional sessions. The goals of the Game are to increase on-task and
reduce disruptive behavior during instructional session. The Game encourages
students to manage their own behavior and their peers’ behavior through a
process of group reinforcement and mutual self-interest. The Game also helps
educators to redirect students when they demonstrate disruptive behavior.
Participants will also learn how to design and deliver fluency
(automaticity) instruction to improve student outcomes in all academic
areas.
