     About B.I.C.A.
Behavioral Institute for Children and Adolescents
has been promoting improved services for troubled children and youth
since 1982. The Institute provides a wide variety of
supporting services to professionals and parents who work with
children with emotional and behavioral challenges.
Vision
Children and youth with emotional and behavioral
challenges will have access to a full array of effective and
individualized services provided by highly qualified practitioners.
Mission
The Institute promotes the well-being of
children and youth with emotional and behavioral challenges
through skill-based and transdisciplinary training.
Philosophy
The Institute seeks to improve the quality and
array of services provided for children and youth by enhancing
the knowledge and skills of direct service providers. We believe
that parents are essential partners and collaboration is
critical.
Offerings
The Institute offers opportunities for
research-based training with experts that can be tailored to
local needs. These include in-services workshops, keynote
addresses, one and two-day regional topical events, mentoring,
and college courses in collaboration with institutions of higher
education. Additional opportunities for professional networking
and support are available through sponsored or co-sponsored
local, regional, state and national events or conferences. Our
publications focus on effective intervention techniques and
strategies, providing materials to support those in the fields
of general education, special education, mental health and
juvenile justice.
Philanthropy
The Institute initiated a scholarship program
in 1990 to assist individuals who are preparing for professions
working with children and youth experiencing emotional and
behavioral challenges. It also promotes endeavors with other
organizations that address the needs of these children and youth
to be successful in their lives.
